The World Federation of Physics Competitions – WFPhC – started its activities in 1999 to bring together people and organisations from all over the world involved in advancing physics and physics education through competitions.

Aims

The concrete aims of the World Federation of Physics Competitions are:

  • Promote excellence associated with physics education through school physics competitions and support research on this topic.
  • Promote meetings and conferences where people interested in physics contests can exchange idead and develop ideas for use competitions in their countries.
  • Provide opportunities for the exchange of information for physics education through published material.
  • Recognise through the WFPhC Award system persons who have made notable contributions to physics education through physical challenges around the world.
  • Organise assistance provided by countries with developed systems for competitions for countries attempting to create competitions.
  • Promote physics and encourage young physicists.

Organisational structure of the WFPhC

The long-term organisation of the World Federation of Physics Competitions is organised by the Executive Committee of the WFPhC. The Executive Committee can establish several committees with a specific task, according to the rules prescribed in the regulations. Those committees may be found in the Committees section.
