Invitation
Fyziklani 2026
Fyziklani 2026 invites secondary school students from around the world to participate in one of Europe’s most established team physics competitions. The contest takes place on 13 February 2026 at PVA EXPO Praha in Prague, Czech Republic, and brings together hundreds of teams competing simultaneously in a fast-paced, problem-solving format. Teams of up to five students work collaboratively to solve a sequence of physics problems of increasing difficulty, testing conceptual understanding, efficiency and strategic thinking. The competition is held in both Czech and English and is complemented by an extensive accompanying programme, including lectures, excursions and social activities that foster international exchange within the physics community. Participation is free of charge, and registration is open until 6 February 2026, 23:59 CET.
Beamline for Schools 2026 (BL4S)
Beamline for Schools 2026 (BL4S) invites high-school student teams from around the world to take part in a unique international physics competition centred on experimental particle physics. Teams are invited to pre-register and design an experiment they would like to carry out at a real particle accelerator, with five winning teams selected to perform their experiments at leading research facilities: two at CERN (Switzerland), two at DESY (Germany) and one at the University of Bonn (ELSA), alongside additional prizes awarded to up to 50 shortlisted teams. Pre-registration enables teams to receive updates on online Q&A sessions, participate in virtual visits to CERN, DESY and ELSA, and access guidance and resources to support proposal preparation. Official proposal submission opens in January 2026, with the deadline set for 13 March 2026 at 23:59 CEST; the competition is fully funded by the CERN & Society Foundation, and full details are available in the official invitation on the BL4S website.
